If you have some experience with dressmaking your next step is Pattern Cutting or learning to make your own patterns. The pattern is called a Block and you will learn to make a block specifically to your own measurements. The block is then made into a “Toile” which a practice garment is made to check the fit of your block. From this you can go on to make up your garments in the fabric of your choice.
Getting the right fit and length in a style and colour to suit you in trousers can be a nightmare. Solve the problem once and for all by learning how to make your bespoke pattern.
Learn the processes and principles of Pattern Cutting to get a perfect fit every time.
- Take your body measurements
- Draft a trouser block
- Insert a zip
- Insert darts
- Cut out and make up the toile (prototype) so that you can check the fit of the trousers.
- How to adjust the pattern for different styles.
Some experience of sewing required. We would recommend that you have some experience of dressmaking before taking this class although it is not essential that this is in making trousers.
