Last Few Places remaining on Mother and Daughter Sewing Day this Thursday 9 August. Normally £42 REDUCED to £22 for one parent and one child.  Do you have a sewing machine you are not too sure how to use or would like to brush up your skills? Or would you like your child to have an introduction to a new hobby and skill? Then this is a great course for you. This course is a great introduction in how to properly use a sewing machine.  We then use these new skills to make a cushion that you can take home. We have a few places left on our class for this Thursday and would love to see you at Crafts Bee. Children must be over 10 years old and be accompanied by an adult. The course is from 9.30 to 12.30. Where is Crafts Bee? We have had a few people phone up and say they have walked down the High Street and cannot find us so we though it might be a good idea to explain where we are. Full details are on our Find Us page but to give you a quick guide we are on the War Memorial Roundabout opposite the Cinema on Beckenham High Street.  We are above Bairstow Eves Estate Agents. We have a lovely shiny new sign on the wall to help you find us. We would love to show you the studio if you are in Beckenham. Opening hours do vary depending on when classes are running. Do phone first to check we are here as we may be out and about spreading the word about Crafts Bee to the local area....

Polymer Clay Course Dates Now On Website The Polymer Clay Course dates are now on the website. On Saturday 1 September and Thursday 4 October we have a Necklaces and Bracelets day. Learn how to make jewellery with Polymer Clay and go home with a necklace and a bracelet that you have made. Polymer Clay is a great hobby to carry on with at home. Mother and Daughter Sewing Course We have just added a new course. Its the summer holidays and we have had a few requests for courses for mothers and daughters to learn to sew together.  Based on this we have added a new course. On Thursday 9 August why not spend some time together learning to use a sewing machine and making a cushion to take home. We will teach you How to thread a sewing machine and change the needle Identify the different parts of a machine Learn about seam allowance Learn how to guide fabric  Learn how to cut material Learn how to wind a bobbin and stitch seams Make a cushion. We will provide you with material and a cushion insert. No previous sewing experience is required and all materials are included.  You will take home a completed cushion. Cake, tea and soft drinks will be provided to help the creative juices flow. Children must be 10 years or older.  The price of £42 inc VAT includes one child per adult. Have a go at Silk Painting. You don’t need to be able to draw. I can’t and thses were my first attempts. With a bit of expert tuition from our Silk Painting teacher, Karen Lewis, I was soon mixing the colours and watching mesmerised as they run on the silk. I could become addicted to this. You can paint all sorts of things including cushions, ties, scarves, wall hangings and T shirts. Karen and I are having a Silk Painting Sunday tomorrow. What Colour will you use on your Sewing Course? The stock is starting to arrive for the sewing classes. We got carried away and ordered ribbons in every colour imaginable. It seemed a great idea at the time but how do you store them so you can see what you have and also be able to use them easily? We put our thinking caps on, went for a trip to Ikea and came up with this idea. Using a kitchen utensil rail and some hanging baskets the ribbons are easy to see and use and add a splash of colour.      ...

Its been a long old day at Crafts Bee. Faced with 70 boxes of flat packed furniture there was no alternative but to get some experts in. Several hours later and lots of empty boxes the studio is taking shape.   All those shelves need filling with lovely hand made objects but the lovely, spacious studio is finally revealed.         The before shot.
