What is Chalk Paint?
Chalk paint is a type of paint that needs little no preparation. Just start painting then seal the paint with wax. Along the way you can use various techniques to finish up with different styles of finish including distressed and shabby chic.
This one day paint workshop will teach you how to transform your furniture and other items using chalk paint.
We will discuss with you the do’s and don’ts of chalk paint and share some handy tips to help you achieve the look you want.
This workshop is fun, informative and hands on!
Who is this class for?
This class is for beginners to chalk painting and those with some experience wanting to learn tips and new techniques.

How big are the class sizes?
Class sizes are small, restricted to seven students. This allows the tutor to offer you plenty of help and advice when needed.
What techniques will I learn?
During the day you will learn how to prepare and apply chalk paint and how to use clear and dark waxes. In addition various techniques to enhance your projects and make them unique will be practised. These include
Distressing and cracking the paint to give an aged effect,
As well as trying some of the well known brands of chalk paint we will show you how to make your own chalk paint using your leftover paint from other projects!
What will I make on this class?
We will provide you with a sample board to practice the techniques on. You will take this home and can use it as a reference when you start your own projects.
In addition you will make and take home a small project such as a painted tray.
We will also supply some printed notes so that you don’t have to remember everything!
What experience do I need for this class?
You do not need any previous experience of chalk painting for this class.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring along a 100ml tester pot of water based paint in a colour of your choice. Other than that all materials and equipment are provided. You will need to bring some lunch although there are plenty of places locally where you can buy some.
